Abandoning Town Centres "Losing Hearts & Souls Of Our Heritage"

Interviewed via journalist today concerning our documentary & the subject matter. Hope we obtain a worthy contribution via future articles! Maybe even a guest blog?
The past few days of filming and interviews has opened my eyes to the continued problems and complexities of administrations who I call "The Untouchables" councils who are not held accountable or responsible for their failings to duly serve and deliver for the people. The social and economic deprivation of Brechin, plus Forfar was very obvious, plus extremely evident and quite sad, which has been through no direct result of the economic climate but more administrative mismanagement.
My excursion and revisit, like a Vietnam vet suffering from horrific flashbacks or post traumatic stress disorder, had been emotional. Especially when you fought a war and battle against ooppression which seems to be exercised by an authority or power in a burdensome, lethargic and unjust manner. Which often seems self centred and self serving, why when I tried raising the bar, pushing the boundaries, creating a differentiating factor to lift an air of apathy, raising ones spirits, hopes and faith for optimism for the people. A brighter and better prospect for all our futures, did they drag their heels?
The past 48 hours deeply saddened and depressed me, especially in light of my extremely close attachment and historic relationship with some of those awesome and phenomenal buildings. Derelict icons, architecturally stunning and ornate historic gems in an overwhelming bad state of disrepair, visibly neglected, greatly and desperately in need of some tender loving care, a future vision, plus alternative strategic plan and alternative use. I seem to remember I proved that point and case via statistical evidence through migrant workers and pre-sales.
Angus Councils move to controversial new administration offices seems like an out of town retailer who desires to open a super store with more square footage, to stock more products and goods, plus value added. Although has an evident lacking of customer services and adequate support, failing to execute and deliver the necessary social products and economic goods for the people and region. Seems a huge error in judgement, not only in my mind but the vast majority of the people they are duly appointed to care for and serve are visibly, plus vocally disappointed and also dismayed towards unnecessary capital expenditure.

They abandoned their old administration offices St James House leaving a cloud of darkness cast over the centre of Forfar, which affected local trades and businesses through loss of lunch time trade and income associated with council workers and inbound council visitors. Yet again further controversy surrounding its various attempted disposal. Is this a diminishing responsibility in which the potential defendant be excused by arguing that although they broke the law, they should not be held criminally liable?

The visual impact and building fabric decay, plus decline intertwined with a murky bleak grey winters day is soul destroying and demoralising even though I only spent 48 hours there, it affected me, even annoyed me and continually frustrates me. Heavens forbid those poor souls that live there 24/7 365 days of the year. The council have not just merely neglected St James House or the People but ripped the heart and soul out of two Angus towns Brechin and Forfar. The indigenous might tell you four hearts and souls Arbroath and Montrose also. The patient is in desperate need of a triple bypass, maybe even a transplant, however the specialists help seems to be void, not producing or delivering any treatment or alternative remedies, ineffectual vain!!!
Although there are vital signs, measures of various physiological statistics, taken by healthy professionals willing and able, plus wanting to help. In order to assess the most basic bodily functions the patients need to react, let there hearts beat and show vital statistics, the will and determination to recover but more importantly question and contest reputed specialists not providing the necessary treatments or alternative remedies for every body's health and well-being. The spirit and vitality is their via the people, there's a slight glimmer of hope and faith to shine and sparkle again. I hope I can continue to contribute to that process and achieve some collective and mutual civic pride!!!
